MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) overseen by the Community Transport Association UK (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers.
It is recommended that anyone who drives a minibus as part of their role-whether for school, churches, community centres, taxi services, or other organisation- should take a MiDAS course. These courses are designed to ensure that minibus drivers can provide safe, legal, and comfortable journeys for passengers.
MiDAS Standard Course
This course is typically used by schools, youth and community groups, charitable organisations, and voluntary groups that operate standard minibuses. The focus is on safe and efficient driving practices for transporting groups in regular minibuses.
MiDAS Accessible Course
The Accessible course is designed for those who transport passengers with disabilities. This course covers driving minibuses that are specifically adapted for individuals with mobility impairments, including vehicles with features such as tail lifts or ramps. It ensures that drivers are knowledgeable about handling the needs of passengers with various disabilities, whilst ensuring their safety and comfort during travel.
