The scheme provides a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of drivers and passenger assistants to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge to provide safe, legal and comfortable journey's to passengers.
PATS (Passenger Assistance Training) refers to a specialised training program designed for individuals who has anyone who has care or supervision responsibilities of passengers travelling by road , particularly in settings like schools, community organisations, or transport services.
The training aims to ensure that passenger assistants understand both the legal and safety aspects of transporting passengers safely, and assist those with disabilities as well and handling emergency situations.
Core Module
Module A: The Role of the Passenger Assistant
The foundation module for all passenger assistants is designed to equip passenger assistants (PA) with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles effectively. This module focuses on understanding the responsibilities and duties of a passenger assistant, ensuring that they can provide safe and efficient service to passengers.

This module is designed for passenger assistants who work with people who do not use a wheelchair

This module is designed for Passenger assistants who specifically work with people who are wheelchair users
